Purpose

Purpose of the Programme

The Master’s Programme (MP) of the Department of International and European Studies (DIES) at the University of Piraeus (UoP), titled “Master’s Programme in European and International Studies (MP-IES)” or in English “Master’s in International and European Studies,” has the following objectives:

1.

To provide up-to-date, high-level knowledge in the fields of International Relations, International Economics, and International Law, which constitute the core subject areas of International and European Studies.

2.

To support research across all knowledge areas of International and European Studies.

3.

To ensure a strong link between the curriculum and the practical needs of Greek private and public organizations and services, as well as the economy and society at large.

4.

To create an organizational infrastructure that enhances cooperation with equivalent Master's Programmes abroad.

5.

To foster systematic collaboration between faculty and students.

6.

To prepare qualified executives capable of contributing to the development of relationships between Greek private and public organizations and services, both domestically and with their counterparts abroad.

7.

To provide students with the substantive and formal qualifications necessary for those wishing to pursue their studies at the doctoral (Ph.D.) level (see also Article 2 of the Establishing Ministerial Decision – Government Gazette 1872/16-12-04).
